Dancehall Music

Dancehall music, also known as ragga or dub, is a form of Jamaican popular music that originated during the political instability of the late 1970’s and became the country’s dominant music in the 1980’s and 1990’s. The deejay is fundamental to Dancehall, rapping or “toasting” over a prerecorded rhythm track (bass guitar and drums), or “dub.”
